Timing is Everything

Are you ready for sex?

Sex Timings: Know When You Are Ready | Durex India

Not everyone is ready for sex at the same stage in life. Only you can know if you are ready for it. But how can you be sure? Go through this checklist to help you decide if you are ready. If you have any doubts on any point, it might be better to wait. There is only one first time for sex, so it’s better to be sure.

Does the idea of having sex make you happy?

Do you feel emotionally, physically and mentally prepared for sex?

Do you know what ‘having sex’ really means? Penetrative sex is just one way to give each other sexual pleasure, but other forms of sex such as oral sex and manual play can be explored, too. Do remember that oral sex carries risks of Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) too, so you'll still need to use a condom to protect yourself.

Do you trust your potential sexual partner? Do you respect them, and are you certain that they feel the same way about you?

Are you certain that your partner will understand about your need to have safe sex? You can get pregnant/get your partner pregnant and/or contract STIs every time you have sex, and the first time is no exception to this.

Do you feel happy and comfortable about the chosen location and timing? Does your partner feel the same way?

Are you aware of what sex can lead to? Is the person you’re about to have sex with aware of it as well? Are both of you prepared to deal with any issues that may arise?

Does any part of having sex scare you? Have you discussed your fears with your partner?

Do you want sex because you feel ready to have it? Or are you doing it out of a fear of losing your partner if you don't?

Does the idea of having sex feel right? Listen to your gut instinct – if something doesn't feel like it should, you must wait a little longer before making the final decision, or live to regret it.
